ABOUT
XAXA is an up and coming singer/songwriter from South Florida, now most recently relocated to New York City. With influences in pop/rock, R&B and contemporary soul he has made a name for himself playing shows from Orlando to Miami. With his rhythmic and percussive style of guitar playing and his smooth and soulful vocals he has won people over for the past 10 years. As a child XAXA was always interested in music. His mother was a professional singer, so she introduced him to a lot of music early on. He began singing as early as 4th grade competing and winning awards (ie. Most Outstanding Soloist) in state competions. From there he was lead to musical theater where he really began to find his love for entertaining. XAXA continued with that all the way through college, graduating with a degree in musical theater. All through highschool and college he was dabbling in song writing and playing the guitar. It wasn’t until he was out of college that he got more serious about being a musician and really switched gears. XAXA started his first band “Cerveza” and they had some local success up and down the coast. It was then that he really started honing his skills playing with other musicians. Cerveza released a small self-titled EP of songs that XAXA had previously written before he started the band. After 3 or 4 years they went their separate ways and XAXA continued as a solo act. He also started sitting in with other musicians, and still does, playing world percussion. Once he was on his own musically it gave him a lot of room to expand as an artist as well as a performer.
He continued to write and in June of 2017 released his first solo acoustic EP “Soul Searching” with Jensen Beach based studio Rain Cat Recordings; performing everything on the EP including guitar, vocals and hand percussion. He has also been featured on Rain Cat’s podcast series as well as their video series “Live at Rain Cat”. XAXA is a working musician and performs full time. He has played countless gigs at over 100 different venues in over 20 different cities up and down the coast. He has had the opportunity to open up for national acts such as Ballyhoo, The Original Wailers, Inner Circle, Badfish, The Supervillians, and G.Love. Most recently XAXA was a featured artist for Sofar Sounds Ft. Lauderdale, January 2020. From weddings to brunches to late night spots and music festivals he is always trying to improve and grow. He incorporates a lot of looping into his set which makes for a fuller sound when he is only by himself, but has hopes of starting a band again now that he has relocated to Manhattan. In addition to singing and playing guitar, XAXA is also an experienced world percussionist. Having played live for years, he has been featured as a studio musician for various different projects as well. He only hopes to keep expanding and growing with his music in the coming years. XAXA has plans for a new full production project in the near future.
